Girlicious Episode 4:
Illisa bumped out of top three
As per usual on “Girlicious”, every week has a theme which is followed throughout the episode. This week’s theme was “style”, what to wear, what to look like, and how to nail every photo and deliver a star performance in … well… style.
The first part of the episode consisted of makeovers for the ladies, which were rather uneventful with the exception of Jaime’s hatred of her hair color (which doesn’t seem entirely dissimilar to what she had before).
Following a short photography challenge, Nichole, for the first time in the season, stepped out as a true star, and she won the Style challenge, and earned herself a coveted exemption.
The performance leg of the challenge incorporated disco songs, complete with some girls rolling around the stage in roller skates; something that put many girls at an unfair advantage.
The first group, which consisted of Nichole, Charlye, and Natalie (the roller skating group), all sailed through to the next round.
The third group, which featured Carrie, Jenna, Tiffanie, and Chrystina (who had been mighty bitter the whole week), all blended their unique performing styles to create a terrific performance, and they also advanced to the next round.
The second group however, which consisted of a grouchy Jaime, a vocally weak Cassandra, and Ilisa, didn’t mesh well together on the Blondie song that they were given, and were the lowest scoring group this week.
In the end, it came down to Jaime versus Cassandra, and Jaime’s attitude wasn’t enough to send her packing; her performing merits kept her around and Cassandra was the third girl eliminated from the final twelve.
With that, there are nine girls remaining, and here is how I rank them going into next week:
Carrie
Current Ranking: 1 - Previous Ranking:1
Once again, Carrie had a knockout week. She was consistent, her makeover was highly praised by the judges, and her performance was truly phenomenal. Plus, her dancing seems to improve more and more as the weeks go by. She’s not the frontrunner yet, but two or three more weeks of consistency like this and she’ll secure her spot in Girlicious.
Tiffanie
Current Ranking: 2 - Previous Ranking:4
Tiffanie, once again, climbs my scoreboard. Every week since week one she has grown leaps and bounds, and she has managed to control her singing and simply shine on the stage. Her attitude could use minor tweaking, because especially with Jenna this week she seemed to reach her breaking point, however she is determined beyond belief, and she is showing that she has the skills to back it up.
Charlye
Current Ranking: 3 - Previous Ranking:2
Charlye was put at a disadvantage with the roller skates this week, however once again she has proven that she can adapt to any curveballs that are thrown at her. She has yet to have that TRUE defining moment, but she has proven to be top three material week after week, and Girlicious is a trio…
Ilisa
Current Ranking: 3 - Previous Ranking:1
I hate when they do this. Of course, I am referring to the producers, who are so blatantly sabotaging this girl’s chances of making the group. Ilisa is sassy, classy, and a vocal kitten who deserves success to the enth degree; however she isn’t going to get it on this show. She was (deliberately?) placed in a group with two very weak girls who were bound to be the bottom group, and Ilisa got much of the heat for it when in reality she was one of the best of the week, regardless of group. The judges seem very unsure about her, and that strikes me as odd, considering how much they like others such as Natalie. I hope this girl makes it, but a sinking feeling in my heart tells me she won’t.
Nichole
Current Ranking:4 - Previous Ranking:9
Finally, when it came time to put up or shut up, Nichole delivered the whole damn feast! She nailed the Style challenge, and she delivered her best performance yet in the disco challenge, even though she was already exempt! This week, Nichole got a free ride, and she didn’t use it as a coaster. Nichole finally has proven she might be able to be a threat in this competition, but only if she doesn’t fall back into obscurity.
Natalie
Current Ranking:5 - Previous Ranking:10
This week, Natalie was transparent. She simply disappeared and, quite frankly, when she isn’t surrounded by drama, she’s quite boring. She didn’t match many of the ladies on a vocal level, and her dancing was nothing to shout about. Will she slowly fade out until her elimination? Something tells me no. (As a side note, it really bothers me how much this girl tries to imitate Nicole Scherzinger. Just because this is a Pussycat Dolls show, doesn’t mean you have to be one of the pre-existing Dolls. Just thought I would point that out.)
Chrystina
Current Ranking:6 - Previous Ranking:8
I want this girl to go away now pleaseandthankyouverymuch. Chrystina is Sour with a capital S and the only thing uglier than the face she makes when she is told she isn’t perfect is her overconfidant standoffish and shallow personality, which is quite unfortunate because as we saw during her final performance, she really is a good performer. Her attitude is what’s going to keep her out of this group. Plus, she needs to stop being so fake. And honestly, shut up about being in the bottom two once. Carrie was there once too! Is she complaining? No, she took it and she learnt from it. Grow up Chrystina.
