Reality TV Headlines SirLinksalot: So You Think You Can Dance

So You Think You Can Dance: I'm Not Terribly Surprised
Recap by Jacob D
July 25, 2008
Last week, the top ten danced and we voted with our votes deciding who goes and who stays for the first time this season. The first casualties were Kherington and Gev and we are now down to eight. On Wednesday, the top eight performed two partner routines and a solo, all for our votes. Now, there are only three more results shows to sift through and this is one of them. We're getting close America! Who will make it into the penultimate performance show as part of the top six? Let's find out.

The show begins with a group routine set to Common's, "Universal Mind Control." All the dancers are wearing space-age spandex that looks to be directly from the '80s. That's 1980's, not 2080's. Did I mention I like very little of anything having to do with the '80s? It looks like a hip-hop routine to me and is so bizarre and creative. I didn't really catch the name of the guy who choreographed, it kind of sounded like Cat said Chuck Maldonado, but it's the guy's first contribution to SYTYCD. Welcome to the show, mystery man!

Cat talks with the judges a bit before reading the results and asks Toni how hard it is to master various styles of dance. Toni discusses her own path, including her foray into locking back in the day which I never would've guessed for her, and she says you can never really truly master dance. I guess it's more about the pursuit of dance than the perfection of dance. Nigel talks about the votes SYTYCD and American Idol have received this year, but goes on to say that the most important vote is for the president of the U.S.A. As British born citizens, Nigel and Cat are unable to vote in this country, but we are urged to vote for ourselves.

Now it's time for the results and this week, SYTYCD is going with a routine that American Idol employed a number of times this year and that is to call out each dancer individually. First up is Katee and she is safe, followed by Will, who is not. I'm not surprised that Katee is safe, but I am a bit surprised that Will is in the bottom two. Maybe it's just a numbers game at this point or maybe people thought Will would be safe and didn't vote for him as much?

Comfort is next and she is in the bottom group as I predicted. Next is Mark, whom I also predicted would be in danger, but he is in fact, safe! Mark is shocked and I'm thrilled because I adore him. Chelsie is called on next and she is safe, followed by Twitch who is not safe. Twitch seems about ready to breakdown, prompting Cat to comfort him, but these things happen, Twitch. The last two dancers are Joshua and Courtney. Since Twitch and Will were already named as the bottom two, obviously Joshua is safe. The reverse is true of Courtney, who is obviously in the bottom two since Katee and Chelsie were declared safe. That means our bottom group this week is Comfort, Courtney, Twitch, and Will.

Now it's time for the week's.....
