So You Think You Can Dance: My Hunch Says It Will Be....

Last week on So You Think You Can Dance, the top eight took to the stage and danced for our votes once again. After two more partner routines and another round of solos, our votes left Comfort, Courtney, Twitch, and Will as the bottom group. In the end, Comfort and Will were eliminated. It is now the penultimate performance show, the one that determines our final four. How will everyone perform? Let's find out.
Our first couple tonight is Courtney & Mark and their first routine is a Jason Gilkison choreographed Viennese waltz set to American Idol Season Seven winner David Cook's victory single, "The Time Of My Life." This next bit won't interest anyone, but Billboad chart enthusiasts like myself, but usually an Idol victory single debuts high on the Billboad Hot 100 and quickly falls off the chart, never to be heard from again. David's debuted high up at #3 and fell out of the top half, the top 50, but has been hanging in there and recently nudged back into the top half. It's good when someone you like is successful and it's better when they buck the trends. Back to SYTYCD, Courtney and Mark are an attractive pair and turn in a romantic performance. They flow, they sway, and they just seem so in tune to what the piece calls for without overdoing it. A solid start to the night.
Guest judge for the week, Adam Shankman, says it was a good performance. He compliments Mark's technique and says Courtney is beautiful. Mary loved how they brought the routine to life and says Mark has grown every week. Nigel says it was romantic and feels they started the evening well.
The first person to dance a solo is Chelsie. She seems to be dancing first a lot, doesn't she? I don't remember the exact order of the solos these past few weeks, but it seems like Chelsie's turn has come up early each time. Just a small digression. Chelsie dances to, "When I Grow Up," by the Pussycat Dolls and uses her strut to full effect. It's exciting to watch her blossom onstage and I think she's one of the better ballroom dancers the show has ever seen. The next soloist is Twitch and he puts on a fairly comedic performance to Midnight Star's, "Midas Touch." Probably owing to the theme of the song, he is wearing gold fronts and when he finishes his solo, Cat tries them on! Is it any wonder why I love her?
Reunited after spending two weeks apart is the next couple, Katee & Joshua. Their first routine is a Tyce DiOrio choreographed contemporary piece set to, "All By Myself," by Celine Dion. Can I date Tyce? I just think he's adorable. Katee and Joshua dance so softly and elegantly in the down portions of the song and when it gets to the big notes, they launch into the second half with an incredible move where Katee does a leaping splits and Josh catches her on his arms. They dance with fire and are both just so great at this.
Adam says they are, by far, two of the most exciting dancers to ever appear on that stage. Mary says the performance was filled with passion and says it was one of the most beautiful things she's seen on the show. Mary says she sees the two of them in the finals and I do too, but let's try not to tempt the Gods of fate here. Sometimes people who seem like they should be in the finals don't end up there as was the case with Melinda Doolittle in American Idol 6. Nigel points out legendary choreographer Gillian Lynne in the audience and says she comes from a school of choreography that would've adored the routine. He is also impressed that Joshua, with no classical training, was so wonderful.
