Survivor Gabon: A Loser Quits A Clueless Tribe
Recap by Jenny Lane
As of October 17, 2008
Previously on Survivor, Kota’s largest alliance was between Charlie, Marcus, Jacquie, Corinne, and perhaps Bob as well. In addition, Ace and Sugar were a strong alliance of two, leaving Kelly as the odd man (or woman) out. At Fang, Crystal, Ken and GC aligned themselves together, as did Randy, Susie, Matt and Dan.

The new alliances proved to be irrelevant, when Jeff informed the tribes that they would be reshuffling. Here’s how the tribes ended up:

Kota (yellow)
Marcus
Dan, who was ranked second
Charlie, ranked third, which means Dan bypassed Bob
Randy
Corinne
Susie (bypassing GC)
Bob

Fang (red):
Matty
Ace, who was ranked second
Crystal, ranked fourth, which means Ace bypassed Randy
Jacquie, so Bob got bypassed for a second time
Ken
Kelly, which Jeff calls “the most surprising decision in ten days out here”
GC

Sugar was the last person to be picked, so she was sent to exile island, and would return to take the place of whoever got voted out at tribal council. At the new Fang camp, Kelly went to work making new friends and basically offering to switch sides.

The immunity challenge involved a game of water polo meets water lacrosse. Marcus ran the game for Kota, and they easily won the challenge. Fang’s loss also meant that Sugar would be joining the Fang tribe, and would be reunited with her ally Ace.

Back at camp, Fang talked about voting out Ace, Jacquie or Kelly. GC’s group was going to vote out either Ace or Jacquie, but Kelly’s poor performance in the challenge made them rethink that plan. After they considered Sugar’s return, and that she might be bringing the immunity idol with her, they decided that Jacquie’s ties to Ace and Sugar were a bigger liability than Kelly’s physical weakness.

Jacquie went around and pleaded her case, begging to stay, but in the end it wasn’t enough. At tribal council, Kelly did receive a few votes, but Jacquie was the one voted out.

Tonight’s show begins at Fang on night 12. After returning from tribal council, everyone is standing around the fire. Ace asks Ken if he wants some rice, and Ken has to think about his answer for a moment. Ace tells Ken that he doesn’t have to eat, because Sugar hasn’t eaten in three days (not true). Ken asks if Sugar is there, and Ace says no, but she will be soon. Ace is cranky because Jacquie got voted out instead of Kelly.

A few minutes later, Sugar arrives at camp and is surprised to see that Jacquie is gone. Matty asks Sugar about exile island, and asks if it was cool. She says “it was this time, because I was inside the sugar shack.” I don’t know if anyone picked up on that or not, because that would give away the fact that she has the immunity idol. Then she realizes what she said, so she tries to claim that she gave up looking for the idol the first time she was there. Matty makes sure that everyone remembers that Sugar has been there twice, and tells her that she’s a local over there now. Crystal tells us that she thinks Sugar has the idol, so Sugar has to go.

On day 13 at Kota.....
