Survivor Gabon: “It’s A Game, We All Deserve It”
Recap by Jenny Lane
As of November 14, 2008
Previously on Survivor, both tribes had to go to tribal council and vote someone out. After Dan was voted out, Corinne and Susie continued to clash at Kota. Over at Fang, Matty was shocked that the rest of the group had decided to blindside Ace.

When the two tribes got their treemail, it eluded to a feast, and instructed them to pack up their personal belongings. Everyone assumed that a merge was going to take place. However, once they got to the site of the feast, they found out that instead of a merge, the tribes were being reshuffled. The reorganization was random, so nobody had any control over who ended up where. There was also a clue to the location of one hidden immunity idol. The group decided to find and then discard the idol, so that it wouldn’t cause a bunch of conflict and drama. The new tribes ended up like this:

Kota – Bob, Marcus, Susie, Crystal, Kenny
Fang – Randy, Charlie, Corinne, Matty, Sugar

At Fang, Randy, Charlie and Corinne worried that Susie would switch sides over on at Kota. Charlie worried that Randy would switch sides and betray their alliance. Corinne decided that she wanted Matty to go next, claiming that he was the biggest threat to her. Matty told Sugar that Kenny lied to her, and Ace had stuck up for her. Sugar believed what Matty said, and felt awful for voting Ace out.

At Kota, Crystal outed the fact that one of her cousins is a close friend of Marcus’. The two formed an alliance, and while Marcus seemed genuine, Crystal was definitely just playing the game. As expected, Susie seemed on the fence about which side to align with.

The immunity challenge had everyone holding their arms out to keep posts in the air. Crystal and Sugar dropped out first. At the end, it came down to Matty and Bob. Bob gave a great effort, but Matty won the competition for Fang. That meant that Kota would be going to tribal council.

Kota had to decide to send Kenny or Crystal packing at tribal council. Marcus told Crystal that he wanted her to join his alliance, but Crystal didn’t love the idea of Kenny having to go. Crystal tried to convince Susie to vote out Marcus, but Susie seemed convinced that her deal to go to the final three with Marcus was solid.

At tribal council, Marcus and Bob voted for Kenny, and Crystal and Kenny voted for Marcus. Susie was the swing vote, and she did indeed switch sides, and voted for Marcus. Marcus was voted out, and became the first member of the jury.

Tonight we begin at Kota, on night 24. The four remaining tribemates talk about tribal council and blindsiding Marcus. Kenny tells us that Bob is the next to go. Bob knows, and he tells the others that he’s “toast if we lose another one.”

The next morning at Fang, Matty is frustrated with the lack of food. To add insult to injury, he seems unable to start a fire this morning, even with the flint. He says he can’t wait to merge, so that he doesn’t have to deal with the dismal conditions at Fang anymore.

Matty brings today’s treemail back to camp, and he’s also carrying a flag with the number one on it. The flag is very small, kind of like a golf course flag. The treemail reads “it will be fun, long drives and short putts, you may need more practice than anyone thinks, a once in a lifetime ‘cultural trip,’ for those who perform best on the links.” So it sounds like it actually is golf, and I wonder if ‘long drives’ means that they’ll be playing for a car as well. They also got a small bag containing a big slingshot and an oversided golf ball.

The reward challenge is set up in a huge field. There is a bigger version of the flag that the tribes received, with a round platform surrounding it. Leading up to the flag in a straight line are markers with numbers, maybe showing the number of feet to or from something.

Fang realizes that Marcus.....
