Elizabeth Kim (33)
Hometown: New York, N.Y.
Occupation: Attorney
Elizabeth Kim wasn’t born in this country, but that is not stopping her from living the American dream. “Everything I’ve gotten to this date has been out of pure determination.” Emigrating from South Korea with her parents at age two, Elizabeth grew up in Franklin Lakes, NJ and is the elder of two children. The first in her family to go to college, this Ivy Leaguer's positive outlook combined with her determination has served her well in life helping her to earn degrees from Barnard-Columbia, Princeton, and University of Pennsylvania, Law School, where she served on Law Review.
After several years of practicing litigation at a top New York City law firm, Elizabeth now works as an urban planner in coordinating and managing industrial real estate development projects for New York City government, although just how much she’ll reveal to her fellow tribemates is still up in the air. “I’m not sure I’m going to tell people where I went to school or that I'm an attorney.” A self-described “social butterfly,” Elizabeth sees herself as an “outgoing people person" who is opinionated and passionate about life. She admits that this behavior often leads to her being blunt with others and putting her foot in her mouth, and that her biggest challenge will be “being assertive without being abrasive.”
A runner and avid tennis player, Elizabeth tries to stay active as much as possible. She recently completed training for a marathon, and is looking forward to tackling the game's many physical and mental challenges.
Currently, Elizabeth resides in New York City. Her birth date is November 24th.
Stimpy’s Thoughts:
Oh there’s so much to like and yet so much to dislike here.
Okay, she’s physically fit, and that’s always a positive.
She describes herself as being a social butterfly, and in this game social is a plus.
Add to that, she’s not too young, nor too old to get targeted for her age. Plus as an Ivy-Leaguer, she’s gotta have a few active brain cells, right?
But then the red-flags are all over the place.
First off, let’s address her current employment. Elizabeth says she doesn’t plan on telling people that she’s an attorney.
Yeah, well, according the bio, she’s not. She’s an urban planner. Maybe there’s a need for a law degree for the position, but if you’re an attorney working with urban planners, then, you’re an attorney. If you’re an urban planner, then well, you’re an urban planner, not an attorney.
Got all that, folks?
It’s kinda like past contestants who say they’ve got a degree in one thing, and yet their current profession is a completely unrelated field.
Now, I’m not gonna fault Elizabeth for not wanting to blab too much about her intelligence level or past and/or current employment. Let’s face it, there aren’t too many dullards working as urban planners.
Well maybe there is, what the hell do I know?
Anyhoo, the real problem here is Elizabeth ’s assertion that she’s opinionated and passionate about life. Add to that the ‘bonus’ of this behavior leading her to be blunt with others and have the capacity to put her foot in her mouth.
Well hell, why don’t we just cut her the check now?
To her credit, Elizabeth seems to realize that these traits are never held in very high esteem on Survivor so she’s going to face the challenge of being assertive without being abrasive.
Why don’t we just place a call to Sylvia from Fiji and asked her how that kinda behavior helped her out on that particular season?
Like I said off the top, there’s lots to like, but enough to dislike and thus I see Elizabeth being an early boot.
