Survivor Samoa: Neither Natalie Nor Russell "Deserved" To Win
Commentary by RTVC Staff Writer Stimpy

It's not about deserving.
And here I thought I was done, yet there appears to be a MASSIVE amount of controversy concerning the results of the Survivor Samoa finale.
There are many who appear to be bummed by the fact that Russell the Dick™ didn’t end this season with the win.
And even more who appear bummed that Natalie did get the win.
So much so, that the call has gone out for columns defending Natalie’s win, and expounding on the virtue of The Dick’s™ game and how he deserved to win the game.
Let me state one thing very emphatically before we get going: no one, and I mean NO ONE deserves to win a season of Survivor.
You either win it or you don’t. Period. End of story.
Seriously folks, we could go nuts about who did deserve and didn’t deserve to win their respective seasons.
Hell, let’s go back to the very first season. Did Hatch deserve to win? Hells yeah. But, by that same token, did Kelly also deserve to win? Once again, hells yeah.
She may have gotten a bit stupid towards the end, but she won crucial immunities and got her ass to the finals, so on that criteria alone, she deserved it.
Folks, if you’re destined to be the next boot and you keep winning immunity and offset your getting booted, and you make it to the finals, anyone could argue that you deserve to win.
Let’s look at season two, Australia. Did Colby deserve to win? Actually, I’d say no, since he was such a prick after he thought he was in the driver’s seat, and then made the boneheaded move of booting Keith instead of Tina.
What about Africa? Did Ethan deserve to win? Sure. What about Kim? Some will argue ‘no’, but she got there and won the final immunity, so why didn’t she deserve it? Others will argue that Lex ‘deserved’ to win that season, but he got more lucky than anything else with his constant ‘let’s go to the next boot and tell them they’re going so they can try and save themselves’ schtick.
See? We’re only three seasons in and it’s already becoming a mish-mash.
Who deserved to win Marquesas? Some will say Kathy, but she didn’t make the finals. Most of the Rotu-4 will say they did, they didn’t even make the final four. Vecepia? Not very bloody likely. Neleh? Some will argue yes, more than Vee, but guess what? Vee won. And while it was mostly due to the fact that the ¾ of the Rotu-4 were extremely petty, thus costing Neleh the win.
Aye, laddie, there’s the rub.
Some (sorry to put you on the spot.....
