She was nice and letting
someone else do the
dirty work isn't sneaky.
Really.
As the reunion show begins, Natalie is congratulated by her family in the studio. After a few minutes of applause and hooplah, the survivors sit down for a chat with Jeff. First, he addresses how Natalie left her job to come on the show. Natalie talks about no regrets, and taking a big risk to get a big return. Then she talks about how the show was a humbling experience, and helped her understand want vs. need.
Jeff asks Natalie about her key move in the game. She says it was hands down, getting rid of Erik. Personally, I don’t know if that was her key move, I think it was her only move. Natalie says she and Russell were a team, pauses, and says “he took a bullet.”
Russell says he doesn’t agree with Natalie’s key move, and says he thinks her key move was aligning with him. I agree, and so does the audience, who bursts out in applause and cheers. Natalie says “ok, maybe I had two key moves then,” showing that she really was under his control.
When asked about his social game, Russell says he did have a good social game, since his alliance trusted him and stayed with him. Jeff says “you look visibly upset now.” Russell says “I played the best strategic game in history,” which gets more cheers and applause. He says “I guarantee you, millions of people probably think that same thing, Natalie, her best move was to jump on my back.”
Jeff asks Russell if he should have brought Jaison and Shambo to the final. Russell says “that’s the question that I think about all the time.” Jeff asks the jury how they would have voted if this change would have happened. For the purposes of this poll, Jaison and Shambo now don’t have votes, and Natalie and Mick do. In this case, Russell gets four votes, Shambo gets one, and Jaison gets two. Jeff tells Russell that he made the wrong choice, and Russell shakes his head.
Russell asks Natalie to give him the title of ‘Sole Survivor,’ and says he’ll pay her ten thousand dollars for it. I don’t know that it’s hers to give to him, that seems like something he’d have to ask CBS for. Jeff asks Russell if he’s asking Natalie to say that he’s a better player. Russell says no, he’s asking her to ask Jeff to tell Russell that he’s the Sole Survivor. Jeff helps Natalie dodge the topic, as she sits quietly and smiles.
Jeff asks Erik if it’s possible to not win the game but still be the better player. Erik says for the first time in his life, in this game, winning is arbitrary. He says he doesn’t value Russell’s strategy more than Natalie’s.
Jeff says “as we sit here, the audience overwhelmingly says yes, Russell played a better game,” and the audience cheers in their agreement. Jaison says he thinks it’s interesting that people are valuing Russell’s negative contributions over Natalie, who tried to be positive. He says for him, Natalie played a better game, which does get a smattering of applause from the audience.
After Jaison says something about.....
