Survivor Samoa: A Second Medical Evacuation Shakes Up The Rankings
Rankings by RTVC Staff Writer Logan Huffman
October 23, 2009
This week on ‘Survivor Samoa’, Russell S. irritated his tribe by doing everything, which some considered more than was necessary. And Russell H. reveled in everyone else’s misery at the weather.

At the challenge, Foa Foa was leading, until an exhausted Russell S. lost consciousness, and passed out at the challenge, banging his head on the puzzle table as he went down.

Jeff stopped the challenge, and medical rushed to Russell S.’s side. Jeff declared no winner of the challenge, and both tribes prepared to head to Tribal Council to lose a member.

Over at Foa Foa, Liz or Natalie knew that one of them would be the one to go.

And at Galu, the girls wanted Shambo to go, but the guys had her back, and were against Monica instead.

Both tribes joined together at Tribal Council, and after some heated competitive discussions, mainly between Russell H. and Erik, Jeff announced that no one would be voted off.

Despite medical working with Russell S., he blacked out several more times and wasn’t deemed well enough to continue in the game, causing him to be the seventh castaway to exit ‘Survivor Samoa’.

Here's this weeks rankings.
Erik
Current Ranking: 1         Previous Ranking: 1
Erik retains the top ranking this week. He is doing extremely well in the game, and seems to be running his tribe for the most part. Erik is in a great position for the time being.

John
Current Ranking: 2         Previous Ranking: 3
John moves up one spot this week. John seems to be in tight with Erik, Dave, and Brett, and I think they seem to be the dominating alliance in the game right now. John ranks higher than Brett and Dave due to the fact that he seems to be stronger in the challenges.

Dave
Current Ranking: 3         Previous Ranking: 11
Dave takes a massive leap up the scoreboard to number three this week. He is in the guys’ alliance on the dominating tribe at this point, and that combined with his outdoor skills, makes him a strong player.

Brett
Current Ranking: 4         Previous Ranking: 7
Brett moves up to fourth place this week. Brett is still lying pretty low, but he is in the guys’ alliance, which puts him in a good spot in the game.

Shambo
Current Ranking: 5         Previous Ranking: 13
Shambo finally manages to pull herself up the scoreboard into the fifth position this week. She managed to finally get in with the guys, which greatly improves her position in the game. She also has the power to jump sides when the merge comes, which makes her position even more powerful.

Russell H.
Current Ranking: 6         Previous Ranking: 2
Russell ranks in sixth place this week. Despite his strategy in the game working, he may be on a tribe that is too late to save. However, out of all of his tribe members, I think Russell has the best chance of surviving when the merge comes. We see him planting a seed with Laura next week (I guess he is sent over after Foa Foa loses the Reward Challenge), and with moves like that, he could easily infiltrate Galu and go far.

Laura
Current Ranking: 7         Previous Ranking: 9
Laura ranks in seventh place this week. Laura is the strongest of the younger females in her tribe, and as long as she continues to perform well, she shouldn’t be targeted.

Mick
Current Ranking: 8         Previous Ranking: 4
Mick drops to his lowest ranking so far this week: number eight. Mick is strong and is playing well, but the fact of the matter is, his tribe continually loses. The merge is probably coming soon, and that will probably make matters worse for him, as he is one of the strongest guys in the game. I really like Mick, but I don’t think he is going to make it much further.

Jaison
Current Ranking: 9         Previous Ranking: 8
Jaison drops one spot to ninth place this week. Jaison continues to be, in my opinion, the weakest competitor on his tribe. However, he is perceived as strong, which will work in his favor until the merge.

Kelly
Current Ranking: 10         Previous Ranking: 10
Kelly retains her ranking this week. Kelly is continuing to lay low, which is serving her well so far.

Natalie
Current Ranking: 11         Previous Ranking: 5
Natalie tumbles six spots to eleventh place this week. Clearly the guys on Foa Foa are going to stick together, and Liz is much stronger than Natalie. However, I think Russell will convince them to boot Liz, which puts Natalie in a better position than Liz at the moment.

Monica
Current Ranking: 12         Previous Ranking: 12
Monica retains her ranking this week, which is now last place for Galu. With the guys taking Shambo under their wing, Monica is in serious trouble. The guys already view her as the weakest, and if Galu loses another challenge, I think Monica is finished.

Liz
Current Ranking: 13         Previous Ranking: 14
Liz remains in last place this week. I think Liz is a decent player who is in a bad position. Her tribe continues to lose, and due to the numbers, she will most likely be the one to go if they suffer another loss.

Russell S.
2nd Medical Evacuation
Although I thought Russell was kind of arrogant and cocky, I hate to see anyone go out of the game the way he did. I think his attitude was due to his competitive nature, probably the same way I would be if I were on the show. I’m very sorry to Russell that he had to go out the way he did. Russell became the seventh castaway to exit ‘Survivor Samoa’.

Ashley
5th Boot
This isn’t a shock. Ashley hasn’t been in a good position since day one, and her weak challenge performances only reset the spotlight on to her. Ashley was a weak player, and it finally caught up to her. Ashley became the fifth castaway to be voted off of ‘Survivor Samoa’ in a unanimous vote.

Yasmin
4th Boot
I don’t think Yasmin understands why she was booted out. She was definitely on the confrontational side, which didn’t help her, and I understand wanting to save energy for challenges, but doing nothing around camp isn’t looked favorably upon. Seeing her walk very slowly down the Tribal Council steps in her high heels after she was booted may be one of my favorite ‘Survivor’ scenes ever. Yasmin was booted in an 8-2 vote, becoming the fifth castaway to leave ‘Survivor Samoa’.

Ben
3rd Boot
Ben did not play the game well. He seemed to have the right skills for survival, but clearly the social skills were lacking. He incessantly picked fights with someone, never a good strategy on ‘Survivor’. And he even had a key player fighting for him, but in the end, Ben had already done too much irreparable damage, causing him to be the fourth castaway to exit ‘Survivor Samoa’.

Betsy
2nd Boot
Betsy had some rough luck. If Mike hadn’t been medically removed from the game, she would probably still be in the game, as Mike would have been the clear target. Unfortunately for Betsy, none of her efforts had any effect, as the tribe had already decided her fate. Betsy became the third castaway to exit ‘Survivor Samoa’.

Mike
1st Medical Evacuation
I feel bad for Mike. Going out in the challenge like that is a bad way to leave the game, but if he hadn’t been medically removed from the game after the challenge, I think he would have been voted off at Tribal Council anyway. Mike became the second castaway to exit ‘Survivor Samoa’ after being medically removed from the game due to low blood pressure and difficulty breathing.

Marisa
1st Boot
Marisa seemed to be a somewhat decent physical competitor, but it all came crashing down for her quickly. She was right to be wary of Russell H., but admitting it to his face was not a good strategy. Always lie and say you are with someone you just allied with! Turn the tables on them instead of letting them oust you. Marisa made a critical mistake, and while it may not have affected her on other seasons, she was dealing with the supposedly most evil player in ‘Survivor’ history. Marisa became the first castaway to exit ‘Survivor Samoa’ in a 7-3 vote.
