This week on ‘Survivor Samoa’, Foa Foa vowed to stay aligned heading into the merge, while on Galu, Laura and Shambo’s rivalry heated up.
The tribes finally merged, and Russell began working everyone for more votes.
He managed to sway John and Shambo to his side, convincing them to boot Laura off first.
At the Immunity Challenge, a special twist allowed for a guy and a girl to win Immunity.
John and Laura emerged victorious, throwing a wrench into Russell’s plans to boot Laura.
Back at camp, John tried to switch the plan to Monica, while Erik worked to flush out Russell’s hidden Idol and boot Jaison instead.
Monica got wind of the plan to boot her, and all of the girls shifted the target towards Erik.
At Tribal Council, Erik cockily declared that Foa Foa was too far in the hole to recover, but after Russell wasted his Idol, Erik and his hidden Idol were voted out of the game.
Here's this weeks rankings:
|
John
Current Ranking: 1         Previous Ranking: 3
John moves into first place for the first time this season. John did a decent job strategizing, eventually going along with the plan to boot Erik. He also won Immunity, and seems to be playing very well right now.
|
Dave
Current Ranking: 2         Previous Ranking: 4
Dave moves into second place this week. Dave is playing well also, and seems to be a fairly strong competitor. I think Dave is in a good position for the time being.
|
Brett
Current Ranking: 3         Previous Ranking: 2
Brett remains near the top of the scoreboard this week. Brett also seems to be playing decently, and doesn’t seem to be in any danger at this point.
|
Kelly
Current Ranking: 4         Previous Ranking: 9
Kelly leaps five positions into fourth place this week. I had forgotten she was on the show until I saw her in the Immunity Challenge. But Kelly impressed me with her strategizing, as she seemed to be key in turning the tide against Erik. Kelly may be a bigger threat than I thought.
|
Shambo
Current Ranking: 5         Previous Ranking: 5
Shambo retains her ranking again this week. Shambo is in a solid position right now. She will never be the most popular castaway, but she is pretty tight with the guys, and is liked by Foa Foa, which gives her good leverage in the game at this point. But she will still have to know how to use her slight advantage.
|
Natalie
Current Ranking: 6         Previous Ranking: 8
Natalie continues to climb the scoreboard, reaching sixth place this week. Natalie ranks higher than her other former tribe mates because I don’t think she is in immediate danger like Russell, and she’s a better strategist than Mick or Jaison. Natalie should be safe for the moment.
|
Mick
Current Ranking: 7         Previous Ranking: 11
Mick moves up four spots this week, due to cracks in the Galu tribe. Erik’s boot was a huge victory for Mick, as it takes some of the heat off of him. Mick is still a physically strong player that is a challenge threat, but I think Galu may continue to self-destruct, which will keep him in the game longer.
|
Jaison
Current Ranking: 8         Previous Ranking: 12
Jaison moves up four spots to eighth place this week. Jaison was targeted this week, but everyone realized they had bigger fish to fry, which saved him for now. Jaison is a weak player, and I think that is actually beneficial to him right now, as everyone will fire their guns at the stronger players, which could allow Jaison to continue to fly under the radar and remain in the game.
|
Monica
Current Ranking: 9         Previous Ranking: 10
Monica moves up one spot this week, mainly by default. Monica still isn’t playing the game very hard, and people are gunning for her. She needs to work fast in order to go the distance. .
|
Laura
Current Ranking: 10         Previous Ranking: 7
It looks as if Laura’s game is falling apart. She only survived this week due to her Immunity win, and while it looks as if Galu will unite next week, many of them dislike Laura, and I think she could easily be the next to go.
|
Russell H.
Current Ranking: 11         Previous Ranking: 11
While I have to admit that Russell has played the game well, it looks as if he is finally in between a rock and a hard place. He has alienated Galu now with his lies, and it looks as if they have firmly planted the target on him next. I don’t think he will be able to get out of this, but if anyone can, it’s Russell.
|
Erik
7th Boot
This is somewhat of a shock. Erik seemed to be a strong player, but unfortunately, I think his arrogance got the best of him. He thought he was controlling the game, and it was just too threatening to other people. And the worst part is, he could have saved himself with his Idol. Erik became the ninth castaway to exit ‘Survivor Samoa’ in a 10-2 vote.
|
Liz
6th Boot
Liz just had a very rough time in the game. I think Liz was actually a decent player that was in a very bad position. She got on the wrong tribe, and with Foa Foa’s constant losses, she just never had the chance to recover. If she had been on Galu, or even a different season of ‘Survivor’, I really think Liz could have been a great player, and could have gone very far in the game. Liz became the eighth castaway to exit ‘Survivor Samoa’ after a unanimous vote.
|
Russell S.
2nd Medical Evacuation
Although I thought Russell was kind of arrogant and cocky, I hate to see anyone go out of the game the way he did. I think his attitude was due to his competitive nature, probably the same way I would be if I were on the show. I’m very sorry to Russell that he had to go out the way he did. Russell became the seventh castaway to exit ‘Survivor Samoa’.
|
Ashley
5th Boot
This isn’t a shock. Ashley hasn’t been in a good position since day one, and her weak challenge performances only reset the spotlight on to her. Ashley was a weak player, and it finally caught up to her. Ashley became the fifth castaway to be voted off of ‘Survivor Samoa’ in a unanimous vote.
|
Yasmin
4th Boot
I don’t think Yasmin understands why she was booted out. She was definitely on the confrontational side, which didn’t help her, and I understand wanting to save energy for challenges, but doing nothing around camp isn’t looked favorably upon. Seeing her walk very slowly down the Tribal Council steps in her high heels after she was booted may be one of my favorite ‘Survivor’ scenes ever. Yasmin was booted in an 8-2 vote, becoming the fifth castaway to leave ‘Survivor Samoa’.
|
Ben
3rd Boot
Ben did not play the game well. He seemed to have the right skills for survival, but clearly the social skills were lacking. He incessantly picked fights with someone, never a good strategy on ‘Survivor’. And he even had a key player fighting for him, but in the end, Ben had already done too much irreparable damage, causing him to be the fourth castaway to exit ‘Survivor Samoa’.
|
Betsy
2nd Boot
Betsy had some rough luck. If Mike hadn’t been medically removed from the game, she would probably still be in the game, as Mike would have been the clear target. Unfortunately for Betsy, none of her efforts had any effect, as the tribe had already decided her fate. Betsy became the third castaway to exit ‘Survivor Samoa’.
|
Mike
1st Medical Evacuation
I feel bad for Mike. Going out in the challenge like that is a bad way to leave the game, but if he hadn’t been medically removed from the game after the challenge, I think he would have been voted off at Tribal Council anyway. Mike became the second castaway to exit ‘Survivor Samoa’ after being medically removed from the game due to low blood pressure and difficulty breathing.
|
Marisa
1st Boot
Marisa seemed to be a somewhat decent physical competitor, but it all came crashing down for her quickly. She was right to be wary of Russell H., but admitting it to his face was not a good strategy. Always lie and say you are with someone you just allied with! Turn the tables on them instead of letting them oust you. Marisa made a critical mistake, and while it may not have affected her on other seasons, she was dealing with the supposedly most evil player in ‘Survivor’ history. Marisa became the first castaway to exit ‘Survivor Samoa’ in a 7-3 vote.
