Survivor 33: Trust Your Gut
A Stimpy Snarkfest
Decemer 1, 2016

He knew Ken fucked up.
Greetings once again, fans of Survivor: Millennials vs. Gen X! Episode twelve is now in the books.

Thus it once again falls to me, Stimpy, your humble (ha!) scribe to bid you hail and welcome to the Snarkfest.

Stuff to get through (mostly bad) this week, and we shall in short (ish) order.

Man that was a LOT of football last weekend.

As such the idiocy has already started. Mitch Trubisky is on people’s ‘big boards’ as a potential number one pick at quarterback? Seriously. The past two weeks I’ve watched him lose to Duke and NC State for crying out loud! I tried to warn people off of Blaine Gabbert a few years ago. Will anyone heed me this time?

Probably not.

As for the College Football Playoff rankings? We still have to get through this weekend, so everyone just chill.

That being said, I don’t see ANY way they can put a two-loss Michigan team into the playoff no matter what happens this weekend. Especially when you consider one of those losses was to Iowa!

Comments from last week’s Snarkfest

Agreed. Last week could be described as 'epic'. It was an interesting contrast to watch as David and Zeke attempted to one-up each other, right down to the 'misplaced' trust that David had in Bret, and that Zeke has in Hannah.

I wouldn't go so far as to say that Zeke necessarily did a better job though. On the whole it seemed like a stalemate was going to come to a head, until David misplayed his talisman. Had he played it for Hannah, he'd be in the cat-bird seat. But I will say that pretty much everything Zeke did at Tribal Council did nothing to help his chances of winning this thing, let alone making it to the end.

From his inner-asshole bursting forth to his 'I re-align all the time' line to Jessica just screamed of a 'we finally see the leopard's spots and they ain't changing' edit.

Anything is possible when it comes to Zeke and his ego getting the better of him. Whether or not it gets him a serving of humble-pie this week is up for debate (at least until after the episode is over, which by the time you read this it will be).

I'd also hazard that Jay's edit wasn't quite as bad as you suggest. I still don't think it's anything remotely close to a 'winner's edit' - what with his 'I have a talisman that no one knows about', followed up with Zeke telling every form of life on the island and in the water about it - but he did pull off the Immunity win (saving himself), and willingly sold his vote.

I'd give him a bit more credit for keeping his options open and choosing which side to support on the proviso that it gave him the best chance to move forward and win, but in the grand scheme of things it wasn't a bad two episodes for him.

cup of joe:
Well first off, I'll give the editors some 'grudging' praise for not making it seem TOO obvious as to how things are going to play out, but they have also gotten ONE HELL of an assist from the cast this season. I mean any time you need to air evidence of why 'so and so won't win', they're only too happy to provide it for you.

If anything Chris' ouster not being that big of a deal is fitting end to his 'overly important' story-arc. He thought he was all that and a bag of chips, and his ouster didn't cause one freaking ripple. Looks good on him.

As for Jessica's ouster? I pretty much covered it last week: Ouch. Of course it would have been more satisfying to watch Bret or Sunday get gonged, but shit like that never seems to happen. Sigh.

Agree with you that Bret did NOT have a good couple of episodes last week. It took awhile but my notice of his behavior during the first Reward Challenge was a precursor of things to come. It was a surprise, given how he'd been so level-headed and decent throughout the season.

It's probably why I was so harsh on him towards the end of the Snarkfest. If you were always a raging dickhead, I wish you'd have given us some indication of that earlier on, so we don't get invested or anything.

As for Sunday? When? Her ONE moment over two episodes was to mention Ken's name at Tribal Council. Ultimately she fooled? Adam. Nuff said there.

With regards to Zeke, well I think we're getting closer to the 'colorful character' that Probst fell in love with (strictly from a production point of view, mind you). Suffice it to say, I ain't looking forward to any more, even though I know it's coming.

Given how everything Adam has touched has turned to absolute shit in this game, I can't foresee any way he can use his 'advantage' to his advantage. Like you said, it'll either get him booted, or get him labeled FINALS GOLD BAY-BEEE!!!!!

Let's face it.....
