Survivor China: Crazy Dave Wears Out His Welcome
Episode 4 Recap by Professor Dan
October 12, 2007
Hi Survivor China fans! It's time for this week's fun with Jeff Probst & Co. After we see the usual recap, in which Leslie took the walk of shame, we pick up the action on Day 10 at Fei Long.

Jean-Robert is tooting his own horn. He is pleased that he escaped elimination, and he's not worried that he might be voted off this week either. He says that he has been stepping up his work in the camp, and in any case, Courtney is "the weak link in every challenge." He goes on to say, "If she survives the next Tribal Council, she's gotta be the luckiest girl in Survivor history." Courtney, for her part, is very irritated at Jean-Robert, telling us "He's like a cocky SOB, and he sucks so bad there's no getting out of that." We see Courtney and Jean-Robert in a stupid argument over whether or not Jean-Robert raised his voice when he talked to Courtney. Courtney tells us that she wants Jean-Robert to go next.

Zhan Hu, Day 10: Peih-Gee marks the day by using the machete on a post. The Survivors are dismayed to find mold in the bottom of their bag of rice. Sherea tries to separate the good rice from the moldy rice. Dave stops her and asks her to put the "good stuff" in something, but when she asks what she should put it in, he doesn't know. Sherea gets pissed. She gets up, and is going to throw some shells away. Dave wants to keep some of them. They practically come to blows, with Sherea saying "don't touch me" and "back up off me". Sherea tells us, "He's very condescending the way he talks to people… but nobody's going to walk over me." Personally, I think Sherea has a major attitude problem.

Next we see Frosti and Dave in the water talking. Frosti says that Dave needs to get along better with Sherea, telling him, "If you're gonna be a leader, then you have to be able to work with everyone you're leading." Frosti tells us that Dave's in a "weird position" because although he does a lot around camp, he's pissing people off. "Crazy Dave may have just worn out his welcome."

Fei Long, Day 10: Treemail! The message says "Today both tribes go to Tribal Council where fire represents your life. In the shadows of the temple, the winners earn less strife." They figure out that there will be a food competition that doesn't require brawn, but does require cooperation. Jean-Robert says that he is a big eater but he hasn't had much to eat lately, so he's very happy at the prospect of a food competition.

It's nightfall, and both tribes meet at the Tribal Council temple. Jeff Probst explains the challenge: two tribe members at a time will use giant chopsticks to carry a "fireball" across a course, drop it down a chute and into a wok, where it will ignite a fireworks display. They will then race back to the start, and the next two tribe members will go. Each round the chopsticks will get longer, making it more difficult to handle the ball. The first tribe to get all three fireballs into all three woks wins Reward. Want to know what you're playing for? Sure! Tomorrow morning, a fisherman and his family will come to camp and teach them how to fish. They'll also bring spices and vegetables, and the winning tribe will feast. As usual, the winners also get to kidnap one of the losers. Fei Long has to sit out a player, and so they choose -- who else? -- Courtney.

In the first round it's Peih-Gee and Sherea for Zhan Hu, versus Todd and Denise for Fei Long. Both have trouble with the chopsticks, and Todd and Denise get theirs in the chute first. Peih-Gee and Sherea follow soon after. Next up is Jaime and Frosti for Zhan Hu while Amanda and Aaron compete for Fei Long. Amanda and Aaron take an early lead and get to their chute first, but Jaime and Frosti are close behind. The final pairs are Dave and Erik for Zhan Hu, versus James and Jean-Robert for Fei Long. James and Jean-Robert take a big lead early on. Dave is frustrated by the huge chopsticks. James and Jean-Robert get to their chute quickly, but they can't lift the ball up far enough to put it in without dropping it. Meanwhile, Frosti is yelling at Dave. Fei Long finally gets their ball into the chute! Fei Long wins reward! They decide to kidnap Dave, and Jeff gives Dave the usual scroll to take with him.
