Survivor Micronesia

Another Idol, Another Blindside, and Another Emergency!

Recap by Jenny Lane
May 2, 2008

Previously on Survivor, the girls banded together to form an alliance and targeted the guys for elimination. The first casualty of the girls' alliance was Ozzy, who was completely blindsided by the vote. Next, Natalie led the girls in another blindsiding vote, this time ousting the unsuspecting Jason. Not only were these both surprises to the guys, the irony was that they were both holding hidden immunity idols, and both chose not to use them. This leaves James and Erik as the only remaining guys in the tribe.

Tonight we begin after tribal council on day 30. James has been dealing with a finger injury and infection. Tonight, the Survivor medical team is examining the finger. James is acting like it's no big deal at all, but the medical team seems to feel differently. They tell him that if the infection doesn't get better, he risks damaging the joint permanently. They tell him that they'll look at it again tomorrow, and if it doesn't look better, he's going to need surgery. When James hears that, he actually looks a little concerned for the first time.

That night at camp, James tells the girls about what he was told. The next morning, Alexis is complaining about a cut on her knee. Apparently she fell while walking around in the dark the night before, and now has what looks like a scrape on her knee about the size of a quarter. She's hobbling around camp as if she has a broken leg, and is saying that she's not going to walk anywhere today. Cirie tells us "well, that's two less people that I have to fight for a million dollars!"

Everyone gathers in the jungle for the reward challenge. Alexis is hobbling in and leaning on some of the others for support. In a clearing, there are stands set up for each person at one end of the clearing. On each stand is a carved statue representing each of the tribemembers. The statues actually look pretty accurate, with correct clothes and hair and even features.

Hanging above each statue is a big weighted bag. The bag is being held in the air by a rope, and the rope is attached to a board on the other side. The rope is actually connected at three different points on the board, so it will take three cuts to send the bag crashing down.
