So You Think You Can Dance 6: Two Tappers Gone Break Nigel's Heart
Recap by Jenny Lane
November 4, 2009
Victor is dancing to Matrix music, wearing black shorts and a black tank top. He spins, leaps, jumps and rolls around, and I’ll be interested to see if the judges get on board with it.
Next, Bianca taps to some rap. She looks like she’s going to the bank, wearing black pants, a red multicolored shirt, and a short white sweater.
The last solo is from Phillip, who gets the biggest cheer. He does a very traditional tap, wearing traditional black and white. He looks like he’s genuinely having a great time, and it’s impossible not to smile along with him.
It’s results time, and the girls are first. Nigel says neither girl “came up to the best they can do in their duets,” and adds that they’re not unanimous tonight. He tells Bianca that she has grown, and then tells her to step back. To Noelle, Nigel says she did dance for her life in her solo, and so she’s staying in the competition. Bianca crumbles into tears, as do many of the dancers standing offstage.
Nigel tells the guys that “this really upsets me personally more than I can let anybody know.” He tells Phillip to step forward, and says “I’m sorry, we’re letting you go, that is two tappers gone tonight, and it breaks my heart.”
With Bianca and Phillip gone, next week Channing will be paired with Victor. Also next week, the viewers will finally get a chance to vote for their favorite dancers!
