I can't take my eyes off him.
Previously on So You Think You Can Dance, the remaining eight couples took the stage. With tappers Bianca and Phillip gone, their partners Peter and Channing were paired with each other.
After two weeks of the judges having complete control over who went home, the audience finally had their chance to vote last week. After revealing that Mollee and Nathan were safe, Nigel went on a rant about how Nathan acted immature, and that the couple was only safe because Nathan has “a huge following.”
The bottom six dancers were Ellenore, Ryan, Pauline, Peter, Karen and Kevin. Nigel expressed dissatisfaction with all three of the girls’ solos, but in the end it was Pauline who was sent home. As for the guys, it was the third (and last) tapper in two weeks to go home, as we lost Peter.
Tonight, we’re going to do it all again with the top 14 dancers. Cat starts things off, wearing a short, strapless, sparkly, silver, snug, sexy little dress. Her hair is loose and wavy, and I must say she looks quite fetching.
As the judges say their hellos, I have to mention that Mary looks kind of the opposite of fetching tonight. I haven’t ripped on poor Mary’s looks this season, but I haven’t given her any compliments either. Tonight, she’s wearing all black, and every square inch below the chin and above the wrists is covered. It looks kind of like an oversized black turtleneck, but it also has a huge satiny bow/flower type monstrosity stuck to her left shoulder. In perhaps a futile attempt to distract us from her outfit (and her weight – yes, I said it), she’s wearing earrings that are literally as big as my foot.
Since the dancers will all be talking about how they got into dance, we first have to embarrass the judges a little and waste some time. First, we see a picture of an adorable seven year old Nigel, wearing a cute little suit and looking like he’s ready to bust a move. Mary’s picture is her as a teenager, wearing a crown and holding a baton. Now here she does look fetching. Adam says “thanks to Botox, you don’t look any different!” Adam’s picture is of him standing on the shore of a lake at about five years old, in a swimming suit, making a silly face.
And now, on to the dancing. The first couple is Ashleigh and Jakob, who will be dancing a Hip Hop routine by Tabitha and Napoleon.
But first, the interview. Ashleigh says she was an energetic child and always wanted to entertain. Her pictures are of course adorable - an assortment of pageants and recitals. She says her most memorable dance memory was a ballroom competition when she was 14 (cue the video with Ashleigh in a pink dress). That was the last time she danced before the six year break she took due to her illness.
Jakob says he was.....
