The Amazing Race 14: Sing The Porta Potty Blues And Lose

After watching reality television for years, I think there is a point when you know you are done with a show. It has happened before and I think it might be happening again. Dancing with the Stars, The Bachelor, and all kinds of VH-1 shows were at one time not to miss at my house. Over the years these shows were eliminated from my DVR and replaced by non-reality programming. Of course there are some shows that I still watch; Survivor (this season not so much), American Idol, ANTM, Top Chef, Project Runway (if it ever makes it back on the air), and of course The Amazing Race.20This season however, the Race has lost some of its luster. None of the teams have been particularly likeable. The few teams that were likeable left too early. Overall it has been a forgettable season. I really hope that next season is better. Well now that my rant is over, on with the recap.
Last week, Jamie and Cara were shocked to discover that after finally finishing first, they were not done racing. Instead Phil handed them another clue and off they went to race again. Margie and Luke arrive next and are not happy to discover they are still racing. They head back out to continue the race. Cara and Jamie meanwhile have found the next location and easily find the next clue. Teams must now search the shops at the local mall and find a Travelocity gnome. When they find it the next clue will be revealed. As the two searched for the gnome, Luke and Margie arrive and they too begin to search.
Back at the Pit Stop, Tammy and Victor arrive at the mat and meet Phil. They get their next clue and head off. I was surprised nothing else was mentioned about his leg cramp. Jen and Kisha are the last to arrive and they are shocked to still be in the race. Both teams head to the mall and meet up with the other teams searching. Margie and Luke find their gnome first. On the bottom they discover the next clue. Teams must now make their way to Gu Gong Xi Bei Jiao and find a common mode of transportation, the electric bikes. They must then ride the bikes by the Forbidden City to Dongdan subway station. It is there they will find their next clue. All three teams also find their gnomes and head off. In the taxi, Jamie stabs the driver with the gnome while trying to show him the clue and doesn't apologize. She is such a word I can not say right now.
Tammy and Victor are the first to find the bikes. They are followed by Margie and Luke and Jen and Kisha. Cara and Jamie are the last team to arrive. Now all teams are riding on their way to the subway station. Tammy and Victor arrive first and find the next clue box. Inside they discover a Detour. In this Detour, teams have to choose between two local Beijing professions, the choice Beijing Opera or Chinese Waiter. In Beijing Opera, teams make their way to a local opera house where they will make each other up as a princess and a gentleman at the Chinese Opera. When they are completely made up, they must present themselves to the Opera master to receive their next clue. In Chinese waiter, teams make their way to a local restaurant and choose a table of hungry patrons who will give their order in Mandarin. Teams will have to recite the orders back to the kitchen. When they recite the orders correctly the kitchen staff will prepare the food and then the teams must deliver it. Once all the food has been delivered, teams will receive the next clue.
Tammy and Victor decide to do Chinese waiter and to me this does not seem quite fair. They have a huge advantage over the other teams which makes me think that the producers really want to see them in the final three. We know a U-Turn is coming up and we all know if they get there first then they are going to use it on Jen and Kisha. Back on the road, the other three teams are racing to catch up to Tammy and Victor. Jen and Kisha end up getting their first and decide to do Chinese Opera. Kisha is looking forward to being a princess since she has never been one before. Margie and Luke and Cara and Jamie arrive next and both decide to do Chinese Opera. Tammy and Victor arrive at the restaurant and surprisingly get it wrong on the first try. It might not be so easy for them. Jen and Kisha arrive at the Opera House and get to work on their makeup.
