Amazing Race: Reading Is Fundamental - Geeks go Home
Episode 3 Recap by Cari C.

Last week on The Amazing Race one of the more likable couple got sent home. Here’s hoping that Steph and Tony will still be able to get married. This week Ken and Tina who the first to arrive last week will be the first to depart this week. If the Southern Belles don’t pick up the pace I have a feeling they are going to be the next to go. Before we can even get to the actual race we must discuss the case of the falling sports bra. Did Star throw Christy’s bra out the window? I told you last week; Star and Nick must be watched.
Ken and Tina get to depart the Pit Stop at 12:51 am with the next clue. Teams must now fly 1200 miles to the city of La Paz, Bolivia. Once they arrive they must make their way to the statue of Simon Boliver in time to get a newspaper. They must then scour the classifieds to find their next clue. The two take off to find a taxi. The remaining teams leave at the following times:
Mark and Bill: 12:52 am
Terrance and Sarah: 1:13 am
Aja and Ty: 1:14 am
Toni and Dallas: 1:15 am
Nick and Star: 1:17 am
Kelly and Christy: 1:18 am
Frat boys: 1:22 am
Southern Belles: 1:22 am
At the airport, all the teams race to find the best flight. They didn’t show any of the airport drama. Instead we get Phil telling us that all teams are making their way on one of two flights. No word on who is on what flight or which plane arrived first. Since the planes arrive at night, the teams arrive to find a lady giving out blankets. The papers won’t be delivered until the next morning so they have to spend the night. In the morning the great bra controversy rears its ugly head. Nick tries to talk to Christy and Kelly but it gets him nowhere.
The newspapers finally arrive and the search for the ad begins. The teams seem to have trouble finding the right ad and it is very surprising to me that the Frat boys find it first. Teams must make their way to a local plaza and find the Narvaez hat shop. There they must buy a traditional hat to get their next clue. The Frat boys take off leaving the others to find the clue. The others teams also find the clue and they take off for the hat shop. As usual the belles are the last to leave. At the hat shop, the Frat boys and Terrence and Sarah arrive. They buy a hat and get the next clue which is a Detour. A Detour is a choice between two tasks each with its own pros and cons. In this Detour teams must choose between two different ways to navigate the city, the choice Musical march or Bumpy ride.
In Musical march, the teams must make their way on foot to two plazas several blocks apart where they must collect musicians and form a band. They must then make their way to another plaza and deliver the band to a band leader in exchange for the next clue. In Bumpy road, the teams travel to another location and choose one of the locally crafted bicycles. Using the provided map as a guide, they will take a trip to the same plaza where they will receive their next clue.
The other teams are really close so.....
